Where we perform

Werribee Park Mansion

Many Essence performances take place inside Werribee Park Mansion, one of Victoria’s most significant heritage sites.

Located in Werribee South, approximately 45 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD, the mansion provides a unique backdrop for theatre that is deeply connected to history and place.

Getting here

By car

Werribee Park Mansion is easily accessible by car, with on‑site parking available

By public transport

Werribee is serviced by metropolitan trains. From Werribee Station, the mansion can be reached by taxi or rideshare.

We recommend allowing extra travel time, particularly for evening performances.

  • Instructions for the show tonight at Werribee Mansion. You're meeting in the Lancemore Hotel foyer.

    Arrive no later than 7.45pm Show starts 8pm sharp.

    If driving to get to Werribee Park, take the Werribee South turn off from Princes Freeway going straight on to K Road.

    Turn right into Werribee Tourism Precinct via main entrance. You'll see the 4 big signs.  

    If the gate is shut, press the button on gate and a staff member will let you in. Or ring the Hotel Reception 97314000.

    Follow the gravel path till you see 4 more signs - turn right as if going to the Zoo but at the juncture go LEFT to the HOTEL (small sign - on to Escarpment Road - says ‘slumber safari’).

    Park in the HOTEL car park and wait in the foyer of the Lancemore hotel where our Stage Manager will collect you and walk you over to the historic mansion.

Essence performances are designed to be immersive and engaging, often unfolding within real historic spaces.

Depending on the production, you may:

  • Move between rooms or locations

  • Be guided by performers in character

  • Experience theatre up close rather than from a traditional seat.

Duration

Most performances run for approximately 75–90 minutes. Some experiences include a short moment for conversation or refreshments at the conclusion of the performance.

Accessibility

Performances at heritage venues may involve stairs, uneven surfaces or standing and walking.

We encourage patrons to contact us in advance to discuss access requirements so we can provide the best possible information for each production.

Food and facilities

Werribee Park Precinct includes gardens and nearby café and restaurant options.

Public amenities are available within the precinct, and facilities may vary depending on the performance location.
